I received some poetic insight today. Something that stood out to me as I was reading scripture:
“It is these who have not defiled themselves with women, for they are virgins. It is these who follow the Lamb wherever he goes. These have been redeemed from mankind as firstfruits for God and the Lamb,”
Revelation 14:4
This verse is in reference to the 144,000 sealed in Chapter 7 of Revelation, who go on to help bring in a great multitude of people into the Kingdom of God. This verse reveals something poetic though, that these 144,000 who are going to do an amazing work have not defiled their character with women. That’s weird. Aren’t men and women to become one in the flesh and be the image of Christ with His church? Yes. But now look to the book of Genesis, the beginning of the Bible:
“When man began to multiply on the face of the land and daughters were born to them, the sons of God saw that the daughters of man were attractive. And they took as their wives any they chose.”
Genesis 6:1-2
These Fallen Angels defiled themselves with women and further corrupted the seed of man by being to progenitors of the Nephilim.
So, how poetic is it that in the last book of God’s word He empowers those who did the opposite of what those Angels did, so that these 144,000 whose names are written in the Lambs book of life, could go and save a great multitude beyond number, instead of worsening humanity’s condition further like those Angels did.
Just some thoughts.
